In Search of Sunflowers...Only to Find Buzzards myspace layouts, myspace codes, glitter graphics myspace layouts, myspace codes, glitter graphics

Talked my wonderful hubby into taking a little drive to find a field of Sunflowers that they said, on the news, a farmer had planted to keep the nutrients up in the soil til it was time for him to plant strawberries for the famous Strawberry Festival they have here in Plant City, Florida each year. He was welcoming anyone to come and take pics and afterwards, mentioned they could help themselves to a few flowers as souvenirs.

So off we went looking for Sunflowers. Now, he does not think this is a good idea, in fact, he is like we don't even know where on this stretch of road between pt. A and pt. B, the field is located. I keep telling him it's OK, we love drives, we have all day, it will be fun. (note: double click on pictures will enlarge them)

We did end up having fun, but no Sunflowers. Well, all this while he is wanting to get home so he can draft his NFL Fantasy Football team. So as we were heading back I said, "Let's go to the park, after all, I did have my camera and maybe I could get some cute wildlife pics or who knows maybe some cute squirrels, or flowers. Never the less, this is what we came up on...this sign, in the park...see the one in the middle.

Turning around I was so amused to see what was sitting on the park rangers truck. See him there, right on top, a Buzzard. You would have thought the park ranger would have read the sign and what? What are you suppose to do so the Buzzards don't damage your car, is that not ridiculously funny.

To my sweet surprise, upon walking out towards the lake, I was thrilled to get a picture of a Heron. You rarely see them and this just made the trip all worth it!

So it's just the two of us hoping that if you head out and don't find exactly what you're looking for, don't be surprised if there's not a little something around the corner that will thrill and amuse you too. :)

We passed field after field of sunflowers on our recent trip. It's hard to get pictures at 70 mph! (no stopping on the interstate!)
We had a heron come fishing in our pond a few months ago. They are a beautiful bird, (and they love my goldfish!)

Hey Pamela,
It was good to hear from you. Your husband is so sweet to do the things that you like to do. Mine is that way too. In fact, this morning while I was in Bible Study he went to pick up the book I ordered - "Blogging In a Snap". He hasn't a clue about blogging but knows I'm enjoying it. Now I can't wait to read it and learn to do some of the simple things I'd like to do. I sure can't do pictures the way you do. How do you get them to come out in the middle of your writing? Hopefully I will have this all figured out before very long.
Please keep in touch.
Linda

Wow, buzzards are just plain creepy. We have turkey hawks, which are in my opinion and buzzard at least they are sure ugly like a buzzard and act like a buzzard. The only buzzards I like are the four "Beatle" buzzards in the cartoon Jungle Book.

I must say I do enjoy drives to see things with my husband. It is usually very relaxing.

Just get a chipmunk, then you'll have sunflowers growing everywhere! lol That's how I got all my sunflowers in the veggie garden...Chippy planted them all for us!! I'd never seen a buzzard up close like that...we don't see many around here. They sure are huge!! The heron is beautiful and you got some gorgeous shots of it!!

Hey there. Nice to meet you. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving the wonderful compliments. I hope you'll be back!

Were you having trouble with the stuff on the side bar? You just have to wait for the page to fully load then click on the category headers for the information - they expand.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that I was married at 19 too! We just had our 15th anniversary in July.

Funny about those buzzards! Yikes!

Hello Pamela

Found you through Motherkitty's site. Your pics are wonderful. We don't get buzzered up my way, but we do get Turkey Vultures along with a lot of eagles and ravens. Herons are also frequent visitors where I live, they are so majestic standing the way the do...I love it when you see one perched on a large rock at the waters edge....wonderful...being an amateur birder I am always on the look out for something to drop by.

Have a grand day.....cheers

Well thats a shame about the sunflowers. Wonder why it would be on the news if there's nothing there or no one can find it!

But the heron is beautiful. And the buzzard is hysterical (unless he's sitting on MY car).

I've been meaning to drop in for a couple of days now - just got a little overwhelmed by the crazy response to the name game. Thank you for visiting me.
