Baked Beans
Total Ingredients: 9

This was a recipe that I talked my old boss out of when I worked
at City Hall. My hubby had just lost his job so we decided to
take advantage of the situation and move closer to family.
All of my Associates threw me a fantastic going away party
and this was one of my favorite side dishes!
This was 15 years ago and it was one of the best moves
we ever made, there is nothing better than living close to family
and we love Florida!

Ingredients:

1 pkg dried pinto beans
5 Nathan hot dogs
1 sweet onion (diced)
1/2 C maple syrup
1/2 C brown sugar
3 T mustard
2 1/2 C ketchup
1 Lb bacon precooked
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Optional:

salt and pepper to taste

Preparation:

Prepare dried beans of your choice according to package directions, cooking time varies due to altitude, but can be cut down considerably by soaking beans overnight. Thoroughly mix all ingredients crumbling bacon in small bite size pieces, and adding bite size hot dogs. Bake 1 1/2 hours @ 325 degrees.

Dennis and I had so much fun watching Little Ben while Kevin and Renee went to a movie and enjoyed a little time to themselves. Renee is itching to have that baby so she and Kevin went to the beach and walked! Being encouraged to do so, as this might help her labor come along. lol
She was quick to inform me it didn't work! I had to laugh as that was obvious! I sure can relate to how she feels, that last month of being pregnant is the worst! My hubby used to affectionately call me a beached whale! Do beached whales have teeth to snarl at hubby's with?

So, it's just the two of us hoping you have a wonderful time with family and friends this Super Bowl Sunday! Our son Terrence has invited us over for a Super Bowl party he is having, and this just thrills me to no end as I will enjoy playing with those cute little kittens of his. Remember, whether you are a Colts fan or a Bears fan. May the best team win! Woohoo! As for our house, we will be cheering for the Colts, as Tony Dungy used to be the Bucs coach and we still love him! So, for us it is "GO COLTS"!

Yummmm those beans look so good...actually your recipe is very similar to the one I use (my gran's recipe) except that I use bacon instead of hot dog weiners. Oh yes, I remember well how hard that last month of pregnancy was...here's hoping she has her baby reallll soon:-) Hugs xox

Super Bowl is finally here! I can't wait! We are going for the Colts to! It would be nice to see Tony Dungy win one with all his hard work.

Now I can't wait to reach Renee's stage..but yesterday after reading my old thick Childbirth book..I suddenly feel so scared and worried..what if this time it's not so smooth.. It's nice of Kevin to bring Renee out to the beach though..
I've never tasted baked beans cooked like this before..He he if I'm your neighbour, I might put on a lot of weight in just a few months time..just by sniffing to those lovely dishes you cook everyday!

I hope your daughter-in-law goes into labor soon! I've heard how much the last month of pregnancy can be the worst month. Enjoy your football watchin' weekend and all the yummy food and laughs shared! Thanks for all your prayers & well wishes! =)

Yummy looking beans! Have a great superbowl weekend! I feel for your daughter, I remember my first baby was 10 days overdue and I was miserable.

Oh my gosh, my dad used to make beans with hot dogs when we were kids and we loved them! I'm so going to be trying this recipe.

Thanks, Pamela, for taking the time to participate in my Favorite Ingredients Friday Super Bowl Edition II recipe exchange. I do appreciate it!

Yum, those beans look good with those hot dogs in them!

I say "Go Colts" too!

My 1st & 4th were 2 weeks overdue, hope she doesn't go over much!

Sorry you're having laptop issues! Remember it's at my DIL's site, Twenty Eight Celsius rather than Kristen's that Kevin is writing. He's underneath the latest post on her hair braiding.

I don't care a bit about Super Bowl unless the Broncos are in it. But I heard that both coaches are good Christians, so that was nice to know. The beans look good enough to eat!

I love baked beans and your recipe is different from mine so I will have to try it. Have a great weekend!

Happy Super Bowl weekend!

These look great, I always buy Nathan hot dogs (when I can find them). I'm going to keep this recipe handy, I've never made baked beans from dried, just canned. Funny... I always make brown and black beans from dried. Anyway, thanks for the recipe!

Mom used to call this beanies and weinies! Looks good...
Another blog I read has just about the same amount of time to go in her pregnancy as your DIL. She's having a boy though...
It's hard to wait those last few weeks..
hugs!

My hubby loves baked beans, so I'm going to have to copy this down for him! Thanks!

Your baked beans look wonderful. And we're cheering for the Colts, too.

Boy, of all the things I tried to bring on labor, walking on the beach was never one of them since we have a serious shortage of beaches here in Colorado. Lucky her to be able to walk on that beach even if it didn't work!

Yummers! I love baked beans. Now all you need is some delicious deviled eggs and you've got a feast! And maybe later in the day you'll have a bit of a tummy ache if you eat too much ;o)

Living near Indianapolis I will be cheering for the Colts as well! Tony Dungy has an awesome testimony. I know he will thank God whether they win or lose!

Had a rough day today. My grandpa passed away this morning. He was my dad's father. He was 102 1/2 years old! Praise God though he went peacefully with his daughters by his side. He was a wonderful man and my daddy was just like him. I'm sure my daddy was there to greet his father today! Wow!

Will keep praying for your DIL and the baby! Can't wait to see the pics!!

It is absolutely freezing here! I'm wrapped up with a heating pad and my favorite blankie trying to get warm tonight! I think I'll go take a hot shower. Have a great weekend Pamela!

Love, Amy

Ok, why do I now have a huge craving for baked beans? Those look wonderful!

Yes, that last month of pregnancy is one of the slowest months, it seems! Hope she stays comfortable until baby comes!

Have a great Superbowl party, Pamela! :)

Hey Pamela - your post didn't show up in my bloglines, and I was concerned that maybe some of that nasty weather hit you. I'm glad to see that all is well. The beans sound really good.
Go Colts!!!

I can't wait to try this recipe. I love baked beans and my mouth was watering just reading these ingredients.

How nice to have Ben. You must have so much fun when he is over. I feel so sorry for Renee. The last month seems more like the last year. It goes on forever and ever. I'll bet you are all getting so excited.

I an going for the Colt's too. I figure Peyton has waitied long enough for a super bowl win.

I'm so late making my rounds for this meme, but I finally made it!

For some reason, I think of baked beans as a summer food. I guess it's because of barbecues. I need to change my thinking because those sound amazing. We love Nathan's hot dogs.
