Holiday Cooking, Blogger Style ~Recipe Exchange
I love to bake during the holidays, Christmas being my favorite.I try to bake about 20 different Christmas cookies, and
put them in cute festive tins, as gifts for friends and family.
These cookies look just like little *Christmas wreaths*
using red hots for the ornaments.
They add so much holiday charm to the assortment of cookies,
and are sure to delight everyone!

Five Ingredients:
- 6 lrg egg whites
- 1/2 tsp cream of tarter
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 5 drops green food color
- 1 1/2 C coconut
- 1 C sugar
- red hot candies
Using a medium sized bowl, add 1 1/2 C coconut, cover with water dyed with green food coloring, soak for at least thirty minutes, drain green coconut on paper towels.
In a separate bowl, using mixer, or food processor, beat first five ingredients until stiff, continue beating and gradually add 1 C sugar, add green coconut and stir by hand. Form into small wreaths on cookie sheet covered by parchment paper or waxed paper. Dot tops of wreaths with red hots. Put into preheated oven that was set at 400 degrees. Turn oven OFF
and leave meringue wreaths in oven overnight. I like to add a little bow made out of icing at the tip of the wreath.

my grandmother uses red hot candies to cook stewed apples, she adds a handful...we all love them at Turkeyday or Christmas!
:-D
They look very festive. You had me until I read coconut in the ingredient list. Not a coconut fan myself.
P.S. I am not ready for Christmas, slow down! I have to make it through Halloween, Jenn's 7th bday, Thanksgiving, Josh's 1st bday, and then I can think about Christmas. :giggle:
